“Organic" is another term that consumers flock to.
What first comes to your mind when you hear Organic? People tend to associate
the word with being healthy, oblivious to the fact that producers of Organic
poultry are putting the bare minimum effort into getting them “certified
organic”. Their birds have neither grass, sun, nor fresh air, not even a dirt
yard like free range, they are simply given a diet that is “free
of antibiotics” and contain no animal by-product. The birds are still crammed
by the thousands into huge warehouses, and still go through the horrendous
conditions that free-range and commercialized poultry go through.
The funny thing about organics is that the producers of all natural food
stores are pricing this chicken that is “free of antibiotics” anywhere
from three to eight dollars a pound! There is nothing healthy about this.
You get a product that is saturated with high levels of Omega 6's with again
no attention given to the health benifits for people. The biggest factor in
Organic poultry is to meet standards at the lowest cost with little concern
given to the quality. It's the word Organic that producers strive for whether
it's healthy or not.
